Taweez, a spiritual tool rooted in Islamic tradition, has been used for centuries to seek healing, protection, and divine blessings. Derived from Quranic verses and authentic supplications (duas), Taweez serves as a bridge between faith and physical well-being. The Quran explicitly states that its verses are a source of healing:
- Quran 17:82:
“And We send down from the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers.”
Urdu Translation:
“اور ہم قرآن میں وہ نازل کرتے ہیں جو مومنوں کے لیے شفا اور رحمت ہے۔”
Specific verses are used in Taweez for curing ailments:
- Quran 26:80:
“And when I am ill, it is He who cures me.”
Urdu Translation:
“اور جب میں بیمار ہوتا ہوں تو وہی مجھے شفا دیتا ہے۔”
These verses emphasize Allah’s role as the ultimate healer, and Taweez serves as a medium to channel His mercy 210.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his companions practiced using written prayers for healing:
- Hadith (Tirmidhi):
Abdullah ibn Amr taught his children to recite protective prayers. For those unable to memorize, he wrote the prayers on paper and hung them around their necks 13.

عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی اللہ عنہ اپنے بچوں کو دعائیں سکھاتے تھے۔ جو بچے یاد نہ کر سکتے، ان کے لیے وہ دعا کاغذ پر لکھ کر گلے میں لٹکا دیتے تھے۔
However, the Prophet ﷺ cautioned against attributing power to the Taweez itself. True reliance (tawakkul) must remain on Allah 9.

- Spiritual Mechanism:
Taweez containing Quranic verses or authentic duas acts as a reminder of Allah’s sovereignty. It strengthens faith (iman) and invites divine intervention. - Physical Application:

The Prophet ﷺ said, “Use the Quran for healing, but also seek medical treatment.”

“قرآن سے شفا طلب کرو، لیکن علاج بھی کرواؤ۔”
